ROAD OF THE DEAD 3 FOR FREE
Housemarque recently announced that Dead Nation is nearing 4 million total downloads, a significant and pretty much unheard of number for PlayStation Network games (though it's important to note that Dead Nation was available for free following the PSN outage). Still, Road of Devastation is well worth the price of admission ($3.99), and bringing Jack and Scarlett through the Road over and over again to raise your score, get further than you did before, and earn all-new DLC-specific Trophies is still a lot of fun if you like Dead Nation as much as I do.įire+doesn't+stop+zombies.+It+only+slows+them+down. I wanted more chapters and more locations, and while Road of Devastation does provide for some new enemies (like an altered "screamer" zombie) and environments (such as plant-ridden locales), I wish it was put together a little differently. There's something really appealing about a setup like this, but I was truly disappointed that Road of Devastation didn't continue the story of the game. You'll have to start from the beginning if you want to play again. Zombies will become stronger, faster and appear in greater numbers the more rounds you survive, and more difficult zombies will also begin to make appearances. When you begin the next round, you'll have to choose from the same forks in the road as your enemies are upgraded. You'll get prizes for keeping your kills-per-minute meter up (something unique to Road of Devastation), while the game will retain money earned, your multiplier and your score (something found in the standard Dead Nation experience). Once back at the laboratory, the round is completed. Do you want to take the path that will lead you to a grenade or weapon upgrade? Will you take the path rife with money and health? Or will you try to maximize your score or raise your statistics by going down the path that offers multipliers and armor? Once down any of those three roads, you'll then have to choose another path to focus on only one of those upgrades, which will eventually wrap you around to the laboratory. YES NO Getting from round to round is what it's all about, but those forks in the road are crucial because they'll lead you to various upgrades that will help you repel endless onslaughts of zombies. Gamers are unleashed upon a path with several forks in the road, and choices must be made in order to circle back to the laboratory where the DLC begins in order to start a fresh round. Sure, that could be said about most games (especially Dead Nation itself), but in Road of Devastation, there are no checkpoints or second chances. Road of Devastation is predicated entirely on continuous survival. Indeed, this piece of DLC shouldn't be purchased until you've finished the main game in its entirety, because you're going to need sharp, finely-tuned skills to survive. For gamers unfamiliar with Dead Nation, Road of Devastation obviously isn't for you. Which+path+will+you+choose? Road of Devastation came out this past Tuesday, and while I was disappointed that it didn't continue the story of Dead Nation in a chapter-like format, I still had a great time delving back into the zombie-killing experience it provides.
ROAD OF THE DEAD 3 FULL
Housemarque's attention to keeping gamers involved with complex and engaging leaderboards, multiple difficulty levels and a full roster of Trophies (including a Platinum - a true rarity on PSN) is a testament to Dead Nation's long-burning potential. The thing is, Dead Nation is more than just one hell of a game.

From developer Housemarque, best known for another PSN exclusive known as Super Stardust HD, Dead Nation is a violent, dark, zombie-infested twin-stick shooter that will test your very mettle as a gamer.

One of my favorite games on PlayStation Network is the exclusive Dead Nation.
